Rustproofing: Important Points

Rust

After the third year, examine closely at least twice a year all surfaces of the vehicle liable to sustain rust.

Areas to check

• The interior and exterior edges of the hood.
• The interior and exterior bottoms of doors; don’t hesitate to lift up the rubber coverings.
• The bottoms of running boards, which often can suffer from surface rust.
• Rear fenders, especially of vehicles with a rubber covering around the fender edges.
• Door hinges

Tips

• Wash the vehicle regularly, especially in winter.
• In winter, if possible, avoid parking the car in a warm and humid place.
• Don’t let water accumulate on the vehicle’s carpets; vacuum out water regularly.
• After a few years, you can apply an additional rustproofing treatment, one that is oil- or kerosene-based such as the 55HP product from Otoprotec.

Amber CORROTEC or CORROPUR for non-exposed areas

These kerosene-based formulas with antioxydant additives are designed to be applied on unexposed surfaces, such as the interior of doors, fenders, etc. High-pressure application ensures coverage of difficult-to-reach areas.

Black CORROTEC or CORROPUR for exposed areas

These formulas made from polymers, antioxydants, kerosene and bitumen are designed to be applied on the vehicle’s exposed surfaces, such as the under-carriage. In addition to protecting against rust, this product helps ensure better sound insulation
